Veterinary Assistant - (Rancho Santa Fe, CA)

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Assist Veterinarian in surgery, including prepping of animals, assisting with surgery and after care. Assist in examining animals. Provide all medical hold animals with exercise, attention, love, feeding, hygiene, and grooming qualifications. Perform routine medical procedures (vaccines, fecal exams, medication administration, etc.) in a timely fashion. Ensure proper cleaning, wrapping and autoclaving of surgical packs. Maintain medical paperwork and follow up as required. Perform weekly inventory of supplies and medication and prepare and submit purchase orders in time to ensure that we do not run out of any supplies. Do weekly health checks of all available and unavailable animals and record on their kennel log. Keep exam room and surgery rooms clean and organized. Responsible for management of special care cases as directed by the Animal Health Manager, in a timely fashion. Must be available to travel off site.
