Ocean Associates Inc. (OAI) is seeking a Scientist to provide support to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration s (NOAA) National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) at the Southwest Fisheries Science Center (SWFSC) in La Jolla CA. OAI supplies personnel support services on contract to government and industry clients for marine fisheries and protected species. BACKGROUNDThe SWFSC s Marine Mammal amp Turtle Division (MMTD) conducts research on marine mammals and sea turtles to monitor trends in abundance and provide management advice to domestic and international bodies. Understanding the health of individual animals is critical for identifying and managing threats to protected species which is mandated by the U.S. Endangered Species Act (ESA) and the Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA).
