JOB OVERVIEW: The Laboratory Specialist, Technical maintains technical and quality assurance standards and procedures for the Clinical Laboratory. Performs and/or monitors all procedures and/or qualitative and quantitative analyses in 1 of the following areas: Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Histology or Cytology assuring all data used by pathologists and physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of disease is acceptable. Integrates, implements, and monitors all departmental procedures and processes. Orders supplies and troubleshoots instrumentation. Tracks problems involving patient care delivered from their designated area. Provides in:services for new staff and students. Monitors proficiency and competency testing of all staff working in their designated department. Provides quality customer service through ongoing interface and frequent communication with patients, physicians, hospital staff, and management. Implements change and fosters teambuilding.
