Tour Guide Position title: Tour Guide Location: Green Bank Observatory State: West Virginia City: Green Bank Job Schedule: Full-time Temporary Department: Green Bank EPO Division Salary Interval: Non-Exempt Job Schedule: Temporary/Rotating Shift Duration: Approx three months Position overview: Position Summary Tour guides communicate the Observatory's mission to the public and provide assistance in the creation, organizing and conducting of astronomy/science awareness programs for visitors to the observatory. This is a Safety Sensitive Position. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Greet guests. - Opening & closing of the science center building, exhibit hall. - Janitorial duties such as maintaining clean buses, etc. - Docent duties to include delivering informal programs to the public and youth groups. - Assist with school field trips and motor coach tours. - Conduct guided tours including auditorium presentations and driving tour buses. - Exhibit monitoring and basic troubleshooting.
