The Laboratory Animal Sciences Program (LASP) provides exceptional quality animal care and technical support for animal research performed at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda and Frederick. LASP executes this mission by providing a broad range of state-of-the-art technologies and services, including the design, generation, and characterization of various biological and genetically-engineered animal models and their response to treatment. By operating the NCI animal research facilities and providing comprehensive services, LASP contributes to the development of new diagnostics and treatment modalities for human cancer. KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES Oversees an animal-based research support involving 1 or more species of laboratory animals maintained in multiple animal facilities on the Bethesda NIH campus, including a non-human primate facility. Serves as the Attending Veterinarian for the NCI-Bethesda Animal Care and Use Committee (ACUC).
