Refrigeration Technician I - (Newport News, VA)

Job assignments:* Starts and operates required refrigeration compressors for daily production.* Starts and operates required blast freezers for daily production.* Evaluate operating parameters of refrigeration plant and makes adjustments as needed.* Operates, monitors, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs refrigeration equipment and all associated valves, piping and instrumentation.* Background in Programmable Logic Controls (PLCs).* Reads electrical diagrams, evaluates, troubleshoots and solves electrical problems.* Documents plant operational activities in the Engine Room Log Book and notes equipment operational parameters on equipment log sheets.* Monitors and maintains Refrigeration Systems.* Performs periodic tests of Ammonia Detection Alarm System.* Reads and interprets technical literature, drawings, prints and diagrams needed to better operate and/or troubleshoot equipment.* Requests materials and supplies necessary to perform duties.
