Perform heavy-wheel vehicle mechanic duties. Performs unit maintenance and recovery operations on heavy-wheel vehicles, and on material handling equipment (MHE). Maintains power assisted brake systems, vehicle suspension systems, vehicle wheel/hub assemblies, wheel vehicle mechanical (manual) steering systems, wheel vehicle hydraulic (power) steering systems, and wheel vehicle crane/hose/winch assemblies. Responsible for more technical repair and maintenance of automobiles, trucks, and trailers. Troubleshoots, orders parts, and repairs difficult mechanical problems. Expertise to perform general automotive maintenance and repair tasks. May require specific certifications, depending on job assignment. Knowledge of relevant tools and equipment.
