Eligibility Qualifications for Firefighter The City of Monterey's Fire Department is seeking Firefighter applicants for future hiring opportunities, who must meet the following qualifications: Possession of a high-school diploma or GED Possession of a valid California Driver License Possession of an active Emergency Medical Technician certificate valid in California (Possession of a Paramedic License valid in California also satisfies this requirement) Possession of a valid Applicant Physical Expertise Test (CPAT).
