JOB OVERVIEW: CARDIAC 1st ASSIST.Will need to cover call every other weekend and a few times during week.Approximately 250-300 heart and thoracic cases/year.Endovein harvesting is a must. This position assists professional staff in providing care for the operative patient before, during and after surgery.The certified 1st Assistant provides aid in exposure, hemostasis, and other technical functions that will help the surgeon/team carry out a safe operation with optimal results for the patient.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides certified 1st assist direct patient care ensuring a safe and comforting environment before, during and after surgery.Performs complex 1st assist duties; such as: vein harvest, femoral artery cut-down for access/cannulation.Ensures that necessary equipment and supplies are available.Participates in clinical quality improvement activities.Expert with common positions related to the surgical procedure and able to use the appropriate equipment necessary to provide the position
