History Over fifty years ago, in 1962, Ridge made its 1st Monte Bello, and 2 years later its 1st zinfandel. Since that time, Ridge has championed single-vineyard winemaking, searching California for those rare vineyards where climate, soil, and varietal are ideally matched. Wines of Place Great wines come from great vineyards. Ridge respects the land, and allows its individuality to be expressed in the glass. Wines from Monte Bello, Geyserville, and Lytton Springs are known throughout the world for their excellence and distinctive sense of place. We base our grape-growing in each vineyard on long background with the site, while simultaneously making use of the most recent advances in vineyard management. Natural Methods & Traditions As a leader in sustainable winegrowing, Ridge eschews chemicals in favor of natural farming, including cover crops, organic treatments, beneficial insects for pest control, and advanced methods to measure water stress and minimize water use.
