Postdoctoral Research ociate - Physical Metallurgy of Lightweight Alloys - (Oak Ridge, TN)

Requisition Id 717 Overview: We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research ociate who will perform materials research in the area of aluminum alloy development for additive manufacturing applications. The position will allow significant interaction with researchers with varying background and additional opportunities for professional development. This position resides in the Alloy Behavior and Design (ABAD) Group in the Materials Science and Technology Division (MSTD), Physical Sciences Directorate (PSD) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). The selected candidate will work on the physical metallurgy of aluminum alloys for automotive engine and other high temperature applications. Project will include application of physical metallurgy principles to develop high temperature aluminum alloys with desirable properties. A background in solidification processing, additive processing, welding/weld-cracking will be desirable but not necessary.
